Apple released the iWork 9.0.4 Update today. In addition to several bug fixes, Pages 4.0.4 now includes compatibility with the standard ePub file format when exporting. As you probably already know by now, the ePub format is used by the popular iBooks application.

In addition to the update, Apple has released a guide to help you determine when to choose ePub and when PDF should be your format of choice for iBooks. In a nutshell;

  • ePub when the text is the most important part of the document
  • PDF if you’re more concerned about layout than the content

The guide also includes step-by-step instructions on preparing, exporting and transferring the ePub files to your i-Device. There is even a sample document available for download to use when practicing the steps.

The update is available through Software Update or as a standalone installer from the Apple Support Downloads page. You can read the rest of the details about the iWork 9.0.4 Update on Apple’s support site.
