WikiHow — the online how to manual that people can edit — has posted instructions on How to Put Attachment Clips on an iPad Case so that you can wear your wonderful device.
While I don’t expect many lawyers to start wearing their iPads around their necks while addressing a jury or client, I do see a use for this hack. In fact, I expect to see many legal vendors wearing iPads to hawk their wares in Las Vegas at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Conference (Aug 22- 27, 2010).
iPads are the perfect portable sales companion. First, because it’s such a cool device, everyone wants to check out the iPad itself (that’s the attention getter). Second, using an application like Keynote, vendors can make quick eye-catching presentations to lure people in even more. Finally, if the prey is interested, the vendor can then switch to a web-based (or other) demo of their product or service.
If you’re going to the ILTA conference, let us know if you see iPads in the vendor exhibit hall (or elsewhere). And don’t forget to spread the word about the ILTA Conference on Twitter (#ILTA10 hashtag).
I’ll be there (I’m @LawyerKM on Twitter). And here’s a link to a panel about KM Tools that I’ll be moderating. Finally, there’s a chance that I’ll be chatting with Shy Alter of ii3 on ILTA TV about “Mobility and Shifts in Information Access Expectations.” I have a feeling that iPads might come up in that conversation.
Are you going to the ILTA Conference? Do you have an iPad? How will you use it at the conference? Let us know in the comments. See you in Vegas, baby.

I’m beginning to see IPADs used at law firms in Los Angeles. Curious as to whether this is a fad or a trend. Will stay tuned!
